The science behind the programme

Our strength and balance for seniors’ programme was developed in New Zealand in the late 1990s and has been scientifically validated. It has been shown to:

•  Reduce falls and fall-related injuries by 35%

•  Be equally effective for men and women

•  Improve confidence in daily activities

What to expect

•  Leg strengthening and balance exercises

•  A personalised walking plan

•  Light equipment, including ankle weights, resistance bands, foam balance pad, is used as needed

The exercises are individually prescribed and increase in difficulty during a series of four to six home visits.

How does it work?

During our first visit we’ll review your clinical history and assess your current strength and balance levels. This will help us create a personalised exercise plan.

Over the course of the home visits we’ll build up the strength and balance exercises, review your progress and adjust the plan accordingly.

By the final session you’ll have a personalised library of exercises you can use to maintain your strength and balance.
