Chronic pain is often caused by how we sit, stand and move every day. Pain is defined as chronic when it lasts for more than 12 weeks.

Repetitive postures and movements create ingrained muscular patterns over time. Some of these patterns can lead to tension, discomfort, and pain.

Your nervous system controls these patterns by signalling which muscles to contract and when to release them. When tension becomes habitual, it can cause stiffness, limited mobility, and pain.

We help people through a powerful approach called Clinical Somatics.

What is Clinical Somatics?

Clinical Somatics uses a technique called pandiculation to relieve chronic pain.

If you’ve ever seen a dog or cat arch their back when they get up from a nap, or watched a baby stretch their arms and legs as they wake up, you’ve seen pandiculation in action.

We pandiculate when we stretch or yawn, especially when waking up.

How can Clinical Somatics help?

Clinical Somatics retrains the nervous system using slow, focused, conscious movements.

It addresses the root cause of most muscle and joint pain.

How will we work together?

We’ll teach you exercises that reduce and eliminate chronic pain, so you can keep doing them yourself.

After an initial assessment, you’ll work with me over four to six sessions that are usually spaced three weeks apart.

Each session builds on the previous one, and we’ll adjust the exercises to your needs as you progress.

You’ll practise at home between sessions, helped by my audio guides.
